Growth In Florida: A Teleseminar Event

Overview:  The Florida Legislature concluded its annual session on May 6, 2005. One of its final actions was the passage of major legislation revising the state’s long-standing growth management policies.  Find out what changes will soon become law and what they will and could mean for Florida. Also gain insights into broader aspects of growth issues, needs and opportunities, at the community level and for the state as a whole.

Program:  Eight week program consisting of one session per week, approximately one and a half hours each. Sign up for individual sessions or the package of 8.  No travel required; call in from anywhere to take part in live sessions. If a schedule conflict occurs, listen to session on replay line for up to a week at your convenience. Learn from a faculty of over 40 experts from diverse backgrounds, perspectives.

 Schedule: Dates are as follows – June 15, 22, 29, July 6, 13, 20, 27, August 3. All calls will begin at 10:00 AM sharp and conclude by 11:30 AM.

 Topics:  Each of the 8 sessions will focus on a theme as follows:

·         Funding & Infrastructure, July 6

·         Roles & Rights of Citizens, July 13

·         Impacts on Communities, Quality of Life, July 20

·         Housing & Redevelopment, July 27

·         Future of Rural Florida, August 3

 Speakers:  Experts on growth policy and related topics will be featured in each session (4 – 5 per date plus Resource Panelists). Diverse backgrounds and perspectives will be represented. Top land use attorneys and others. See faculty highlights at right and more speakers at www.blueradish.biz .

 Cost/Payments:  $25 per session or $125 for package of all 8. Eligible charitable and civic nonprofit rate: $70 (with additional waivers considered based on need). Student rate: $50.
